The Beach and the Bay
Troy, New York
Tested on the Summer Solstice
A tabletop roleplaying game set in a flooded metropolis, holding onto one of the few buildings still inhabited in the intertidal waters. Players take on the roles of residents of the building, its neighbors, and the forces that shape their lives. The game explores the material constraints needed to maintain a community in a hostile physical and economic world.
Inspired by Dream Askew (Avery Alder) and Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast (Jay Dragon), set in worlds imagined by J.G. Ballard and Kim Stanley Robinson.
Facilitation and additional design by Alex Goss
Commissioned by the Triangle Arts Residency's retreat.
